Madix Drift FAQs
Is there a pass-through between the upper and lower sections?
Yes! Our pop-up design includes a two-panel mattress that pushes away, giving you full access between the upper sleeping platform and your truck bed. It creates a seamless pass-through that allows you to stand, store gear, or prep food inside your lightweight truck camper—a major perk for weekend adventures or long-haul trips.
What materials is the camper made of?
Each Madix camper is constructed from 1/8” thick 5052 aluminum, CNC-cut and welded for strength and durability. This solid aluminum shell gives you the flexibility to mount gear anywhere on the exterior and creates a tough, trail-ready camper shell built to handle the elements.
What's the roof payload capacity?
Our roof can handle up to 600 lbs of dynamic weight and 1,000 lbs static. It’s ideal for carrying gear like rooftop storage boxes, bikes, or solar panels, and is insulated with 1.5” high-density foam to maintain comfort inside your truck bed camper no matter the conditions.
How much weight can the roof rack hold?
The integrated roof rack supports the same impressive 600 lbs dynamic/1,000 lbs static capacity—great for overlanding setups or extra gear on the road.
What type of gaskets do you use?
We use staggered double gaskets on all large hatches to block out dust, rain, and wind. Whether you’re navigating dusty trails or parking through a storm, your interior stays dry and protected.
Is lighting included?
Yes. Each truck camper shell includes a built-in LED light bar that plugs into any USB power source—perfect for off-grid nights or organizing your gear in low light.

Do you build campers for long bed trucks or other models?
Yes—we offer custom sizing to fit a variety of truck beds. Just send us your specs and we’ll guide you from there.
How is Madix different from other camper brands?
We focus on build quality, function, and fit. Madix campers are constructed with solid aluminum—not frames with fasteners—and are designed to hold up to rough roads, extreme temperatures, and serious adventure. Unlike some slide-in truck campers, our design sits low-profile, rising only ~10” above your truck cab for better clearance and gas mileage. Madix works hard to keep a low base price available.

Can you build a custom camper for my vehicle?
Yes—reach out to see if we can tailor a truck bed camper to your vehicle.
How does the Drift camper handle off-road conditions?
Built for durability, our overlanding camper handles rough trails with ease. There’s no overhang on the sides, and the tough aluminum shell shrugs off branches, mud, and trail brush—ideal for off-grid travel.
Can I daily drive with the camper installed?
Definitely. The Drift’s lightweight truck camper design won’t slow you down or noticeably affect gas mileage. It’s made to be your full-time rig or weekend escape machine.
How many people can sleep in the camper?
The Drift comfortably sleeps 2 adults (plus room for a pet or small child). Many of our customers use it as a truck camping setup for couples or solo travel with plenty of gear.
Can my dog get into the truck bed camper?
Yes! Our two-panel bed system makes it easy for dogs to hop up and settle in. There is plenty of airflow and room to stretch. The bed of your truck is pet friendly with our sliding glass window for ventilation.
Can I keep my tonneau cover or bed rack installed?
No—you’ll need to remove any tonneau covers, bed racks, or toppers before installing the camper. Contact us if you have questions about what’s compatible.
